Founded in 1984, EqualityMaine works to ensure full equality for LGBTQ+ people in Maine through advocacy, programs, and education.

The Health Equity Alliance (HEAL) is a non-profit agency providing direct service and advocating on behalf of Maine’s LGBTQ+ community, people living with HIV/AIDS, and people who use drugs. HEAL’s LGBTQ+ services team provides direct services and advocates for queer folks across Maine. They offer HIV, STI and Hepatitis C prevention, comprehensive, sex-positive sexual health education and safer sex supplies like condoms and lube in 14 of 16 counties.

The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network is a national organization focused on encouraging and helping solidify LGBT inclusivity in all areas of education and schools. GLSEN has chapters all over the country, including Southern Maine
